Top 5 best national costumes from Mexicana Universal 2023
Yesterday, August 26, 2023, the competition of national costumes of one of the most popular and beloved beauty pageants in America took place: Mexicana Universal 2023, from which 20 original designs were presented to the public, but just one of them won the first position and will show part of Mexican culture to the universe, next November 12, in El Salvador.
Next is my top five of the best costumes, although there were many that caught my attention due to their quality and originality. The ones that I show you below have all the elements to shine on any international stage and leave many speechless with their beauty, color, quality and creativity. Let's see which were the best:
5. The talented Isadora Balmaceda Sánchez presented her costume called "Catrina". This outfit mixes traditional and modern elements that create and update the appearance of one of the most important traditions for Mexicans: the celebration of the Day of the Dead.I loved the silhouette of this design, the manufacturing technique, which is meticulously and precisely handmade. Visually, it fills the stage and immediately transports us to the culture of Mexico.

According to this legend, it was a deer that led the Huicholes to the sacred land of Wirikuta, where they first encountered peyote or hikuri, to finally found an important point of spiritual connection.
2. Laura Ruiz made this magnificent costume called "Calavera Garbancera". It is a design inspired by the tradition of the Day of the Dead and the traditional Catrina (another name by which the Garbancera Skull is also known). According to Laura, this costume wishes to honor the women who have lost their lives in Mexico, but who continue in the hearts of those who remember them.
Personally, I was very shocked to see this costume on stage. The combination of colors, dimensions and design of each element is perfect and transports whoever sees it to a magical world, full of fantasies. It seems to me a costume that, in addition to standing out for its originality, also fulfills the highlight of the woman's silhouette. I place it in second place and let me tell you that the Mexicana organization did the same, because we cannot deny that it is beautiful, right?

1. The winning costume of my top, which is also the Mexicana organization's number one, is called "Guardiana Alebrije". It was made by Ángel Ramos, who said that the first time he participated in this type of competition was ten years ago, on this occasion he proposed not only to participate, but also to win. And you did it, Angel! Your costume is beautiful!
Guardiana Alebrije, according to its own creator, is responsible for guarding the belief in the magical beings, such as the fusion of an owl and a deer, both animals are of Zapotec symbology and are important, as they represent wisdom and focus.
It seems to me that this colorful and beautiful costume will not go unnoticed on the stage of Miss Universe 2023. I am sure that it will be on the list of the best ones, because in addition to its excellent quality in design, materials and tailoring, It is a very original costume and almost impossible to stop looking and admiring. I must clarify that the organization of the event, directed by miss universe 1990, Lupita Jones, only chose a top three: third place went to Cauyumari (located in fourth position in my top), Calavera Guabancera in second place and Guardiana Alebrije in the first place.
