Historic election: Cuba has a queen for Miss Universe after 57 years.

Marianela Ancheta was chosen a few minutes ago as Miss Universe Cuba 2024, and she will be the one to represent this beautiful island in the next edition of Miss Universe 2024, which will be held in November in Mexico.

The election and crowning of Marianela is not just any event; the beautiful young woman becomes the first Cuban to be elected for the Miss Universe competition, after 57 years of not having held this event, due to the sociopolitical situation in Cuba. 25 candidates participated in an event that will be part of history for its important meaning for the Cuban community abroad and Cubans on the island. They paraded on a magnificent stage and looked well-prepared to shine, confident, and eloquent for the camera. The pageant was held in Miami, USA.

Who is Miss Universe Cuba 2024?

Marianela Ancheta, representing the Central Region, grew up in a loving home, but with economic deficiencies. When she was only 13 years old, she left Cuba with her mother in search of the American dream. When she arrived in the United States, she helped her mother clean warehouses and offices. When she grew up, she dedicated herself to being a model and managed to get ahead. She describes herself as a brave, compassionate, and genuine girl.

“I want to use the platform to promote important social causes, such as unity, resilience, and empowerment, both in Cuba and globally. I aspire to be an example of strength, courage, and determination, motivating other women to fight for their dreams despite adversity,” said the beautiful young woman while participating in this contest.

I congratulate the Cubans for this important event, for its queen, and for the great effort they have made to put on a quality show. Marianela... congratulations! You did great.

Here is everything you need to know about Miss Cosmo Beauty Pageant

Miss Cosmo is a new international beauty pageant. It is holding its first edition this year, from September 15 to October 5. The venue is Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

62 candidates are participating in this inaugural edition, although the organization announced in mid-August that there were 82 franchisees. The requirements that the organization demanded are: to be between 18 and 30 years of age; to be a legal citizen of the country they represent; to be single and without children; to have no criminal record; and finally, transgender people legally recognized as women can participate.

The Prize

The main prize for the winner will be one hundred thousand dollars and a one-year stay in a luxury apartment in Vietnam. In addition, she will receive prizes from sponsors and other goods and products that will increase the profit to one million dollars.

In the selection system, the organization will choose a top 21, then a top 10, then a top five, and finally announce the first finalist and the winner.

Official Media

The organization has the AXN TV channel as its main partner, to promote and position the pageant. AXN broadcasts its content in Latin America, Asia and Europe. It also uses social networks to publicize the daily activities of the candidates.

The Jury

A couple of weeks ago, the organization announced several Vietnamese and internationally renowned personalities as responsible for choosing the first International Cosmo Queen. So far, it is known that the selection committee includes Paula Shugart, former president of Miss Universe; Pham Quang Vinh, Minister of International Affairs and Ambassador of Vietnam to the USA; Nguyễn Huỳnh Kim Duyên, Miss Supranational Vietnam 2021 and Miss Universe Vietnam 2021; and George Chien, president of KC Global Media.

Slogan and Mission

The pageant's slogan is "Impactful Beauty", and it advocates for the voices and actions of women around the world, helping them to make their aspirations a reality. They hope that their vision and mission will contribute to creating a world of equality, positivity, and unity.

What can we expect from this pageant?

Miss Cosmo is not very different from the most prominent and popular pageants. From this new platform, we can expect the election of a beautiful and elegant queen, with many followers or fans who support and follow her reign. Possibly, we will see Asians dominating the top, due to commercial strategy, and obviously, some Latinas who, thanks to the sash they wear, will make the pageant famous in Latin America.

While almost all the pages and critics let themselves be carried away by populism and fell into the temptation of putting candidates in their top rankings, I remained faithful to my criteria. On the La Dina Miss blog, objectivity has reigned since my first look at the Miss Universe Philippines 2024 candidates.

Bulacan's triumph touches my heart, not because she is a woman of color, like me, but because I have seen her and Miss Taguig as the best contestants since the activities of the competition began. Today, time proved me right!

I am happy for Chelsea Manalo. I would have liked to see the TOP2 as I imagined it: Miss Taguig and Miss Bulacan holding hands, but I cannot deny that the Miss Universe Philippines Organization has surprised me for the better. They have crowned a girl who no one can take out of the top 5 of Miss Universe 2024 (I declare it!).

Miss Ecuador 2022 candidate murdered

Today, Sunday, April 28, at noon, social media shook when they heard the sad news of the death of the young Landy Párraga, a beautiful Ecuadorian who participated in Miss Ecuador 2022.

Landy died after receiving several gunshot wounds to his body while she was enjoying a ceviche in a small restaurant located in a shopping mall in Quevedo, Ecuador.

Minutes before the terrible event, the young woman had shared a photo of the restaurant where she was on social media. To date, nothing is known about those responsible for this act that has impacted and moved the beauty pageant industry in Ecuador and Latin America.

Was she on the wrong track?

Many rumors circulate on Facebook and Instagram about the alleged motive for this murder. Many Ecuadorians speculate that the young woman may have been close to a drug trafficker. This is because her name came up in a conversation (chat) that became known about the Metastasis case, a case linked to drug trafficking and other illegal activities in Ecuador. However, this was not proven or investigated, so it is just rumors and people's speculation.

From my blog, I wish that Landy rests in peace and that her loved ones find comfort and resignation in these difficult times.

Experienced Contestants heading to Miss Supranational 2024

The next edition of Miss Supranational is approaching and I cannot contain my excitement. I must confess that this beauty pageant has earned my love, my attention and my admiration.

The fifteenth edition will take place on Saturday, July 6 in Malopolska, Poland and because the contest is just around the corner, the national organizations have decided to choose the experienced ones, that is, those contestants who have already participated in one or more international competitions; The objective of this strategy is clear: to ensure that its candidate is crowned by Andrea Aguilera, the beautiful Ecuadorian who currently holds the crown.

I want you to know the profile of some of these experienced candidates because they could be crowned thanks to their accumulated experience. Just as happened with Andrea Aguilera, who had already participated in Miss Grand International 2021 and achieved the position of first runner-up. Andrea was also a finalist for Miss Earth 2022 and won the title of Miss Earth Fire 2022 and top 13 of Miss World 2021.

These are the candidates who have vast experience on their curriculums and have participated in important beauty platforms. They dream of wearing the crown of a prestigious beauty pageant, and that is why they venture down this path again.

Next, I present to you some of the Miss Supranational 2024 candidates who have accumulated a lot of experience, participating in international pageants and who could win the crown.

Chanelle de Lau- Miss Supranational Curaçao 2024

She was designated as an official candidate for the 15th edition of Miss Supranational 2024. She is a model and actress in the Amazon Prime series "Lilies." She participated in Miss Universe 2016, and although she did not qualify, she gained a lot of experience. A year later, in 2017, she represented her country at Miss International 2017, where she almost took the crown, as she placed second in this prestigious competition. Chanelle is 29 years old and eager to wear a crown as important as Miss Supranational.

Lola de Los Santos-Miss Supranational Uruguay 2024

Lola is 27 years old and had been in five international competitions. She participated in Miss Universe 2020, but failed to be top. She also went to Miss World 2018, where she did not appear in the top, either. We saw her with the Miss United Continents 2018 sash and on Top Model of the World 2017 competition. Lola's experience could be the key to bringing the first Miss Supranational crown to her country, and I am sure that she will put into practice everything she learned in other platforms.

Bickering between Anne Jakrajutatip and Paula Shugart

Hello, and welcome back to my blog. Surely you are very surprised by the title of this note, but that's how things are. The current owner of the Miss Universe Organization, the transgender woman of Thai origin, Anne Jakrajutatip, and the former President of this same Organization, Mrs. Paula Shugart, of North American origin, are involved in a scandal of bickering through social media.

All started on February 10, when Aunt Anne (Jakrajutatip) publicly and very directly accused Paula of being a corrupt person and of managing the Miss Universe Organization with no transparency during the years she was in charge of the pageant brand.

We all expected an immediate reaction from Paula, referring to the issue, but it was not until today, February 18, that Paula broke the silence and defends herself against the very serious accusations.

Paula Shugart's Statement

In her statement, the former President of the Miss Universe brand states that "normally I would ignore such assertions" (like those made by Anne), but "these accusations, false and outrageous, have caused her to break her silence." Among the most important points of her statement, the following stand out:

She will let her years of working with TRULY AMAZING WOMEN speak for themselves."
Anne's comments are FALSE and OUTRAGEOUS.
with those comments, Anne not only defames her, but also discredits the women who won the Miss Universe title and sash.
She is considering proceeding legally, in Thailand (Anne Jakrajutatip's country of origin).
She has no need to be involved in dramas like this, through social media.
Her complaint will be just one of MANY LEGAL ACTIONS CURRENTLY FACING Anne and her business group.

Below I share the statement published by Paula Shugart, former president of Miss Universe:

"Since announcing my resignation in November of 2023, I have sought to stay out of the spotlight, electing not to comment on any of the changes within the Miss Universe Organization, seeking only to quietly help the brand and its stakeholders, when requested, with my historical knowledge and guidance.

However, recent false and outrageous comments made by Miss Universe owner Anne Jakrajutatip impugning my character have compelled me to break my silence.

Normally, I would choose to ignore such assertions but, by suggesting that I am corrupt and took money 'under the table' to secure placements in Miss Universe competitions, Jakrajutatip not only defames me, but she also discredits the women who have won the Miss Universe crown by implying their titles were 'bought' and not earned by merit. I cannot abide by such dangerous and reckless assertions, which degrade the Miss Universe brand and its Titleholders.

I am presently considering my legal options in Thailand and what actions I might take. However, given that my complaint will be just one of many legal actions currently facing the owner of JKN, it is imperative for the Miss Universe brand and its legacy that I immediately speak the truth and condemn these words before taking any action in Thai courts and I am reserving all rights to claim for damages

I have no intention or need to engage in drama on social media and I will not do so. Anyone who knows me knows the truth and what I stand for. I will let my years of work with some truly incredible women speak for itself."

What will happen after this?

I hope that things calm down or at least that they do not continue to air their differences in public, but... those of us who know "Aunt" Anne's character know that she will not sit idly by and will most likely respond and that don't delay doing it.

Miss Universe 2023 settles into brand new luxurious apartment

The Miss Universe organization announces with great joy the new residence of its queen, the spectacular Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios.

The apartment is located in New York, although not in the same area as the previous one, which was the last thing left from the Trump era.

Sheynnis Palacios, who won the crown on November 18 of last year, is the first queen of the new organization to enjoy the luxury and comforts of this property that has a spacious living room, dining room, library, multifunctional gym and a very beautiful view.

Where is the apartment located?

The luxurious apartment is located in the Waterline Square complex (composed of three buildings) on the upper west side of Manhattan and very close to the Hudson River. Although the organization did not disclose prices, I was not going to be curious to know how much the new residence of the first Nicaraguan to win the highest crown in beauty pageants is valued. According to the newspaper Metro Puerto Rico, the property is worth 2.3 million dollars.

On the other hand, the monthly rent for a 55 square meter apartment is U$4,500.00. It is a studio with just one bathroom. While the monthly rent of the largest apartment is around U$18,000.00 and has a space of 160 square meters that includes 3 bedrooms and three bathrooms.

Amenities included

This complex offers various services, all very exclusive, such as gyms and personal training, wine bar, access to an application to reserve spaces and internal entertainment areas without problems, semi-Olympic swimming pool, a private club, a tennis court, a wall for climbing, sauna, a squash court, a food court, restaurant and supermarket and an area to practice yoga.

Is it a necessary investment?

But... is this investment necessary at this time? I think so. The new era of Miss Universe leadership, led by JKN and the LEGACY group, has a lot to do to recover the brilliance and amazement that the brand used to have and without a doubt, starting by changing the residence of its queen is the best start, because in addition to putting their stamp on this project, they also let all the fans and followers of Miss Universe know that they are truly committed to change within the organization.

Albania takes home the title for the first time, Miss Earth 2023 is Drita Siri

Among 85 beautiful candidates, the one chosen by the jury and the organization was Miss Earth Albania, the beautiful Miss Earth 2023 is called Drita Siri and is 18 years old.

Miss Earth is one of the most important beauty pageants in the world, attracting, every year, no less than 85 countries that identify with the care of the planet earth, and the environment.

Who is Drita Siri?

Bye Bye to the fame of being a cooking Show

It was widely rumored on social media that the Miss Earth organization would crown its national candidate, because the Philippines has not won any Grand Slam pageant this year and because the fame of a "cooking show" precedes them, since they crowned the Philippines three times, in just four consecutive years. However, this did not happen like that (to the satisfaction of non-Filipino fans, obviously!) and well, we already saw that the organization is focused on regaining the trust of the followers of beauty pageants. We saw the beautiful Drita winning the crown! And the Philippines won the position of first runner-up and one of the four crowns awarded by the organization.

Other countries that stood out in this edition

The Miss Earth Organization chose, in this edition, Yllana Aduana, representative of the Philippines as its new Miss Earth Air, Cora Bliault, representative of Thailand as Miss Earth Fire and Miss Earth Water was Đỗ Lan Anh, from Vietnam.

Special sashes stay in Asia

The special sashes given out during the night were for the Asian queens. Vietnam was chosen as Best Appearance, Philippines was chosen as best in swimsuit and best national costume was Vietnam. The Miss People's Choice title was Indonesia. From this blog, I congratulate Miss Albania, it was pleasant to see her happiness on her face when she was crowned and of course I extend my congratulations to all the winners of the night.

Frenchwoman wins Miss France 2024 with short hair

Diversity and inclusion, when not forced, earn the recognition they deserve. This was evident in the most recent crowning of Miss France 2024, held on Saturday, December 16 at the Zenith in Dijon, where a young woman was crowned who does not have the typical long hair look to which we are accustomed.

Just look at the following photo to understand what I'm talking about. And the young Eve Gilles was the one who historically won the most important beauty crown in France. Eve is the first short-haired Frenchwoman to be crowned Miss France in the last 100 years, yes! 100 years. You can believe it?

The look, totally different and opposite to the traditional long hair that characterizes French beauty queens, was Eve's hallmark during the competition, in which 29 other young people participated.

Her dark hair and her straight cut, reaching the nape of her neck, made the now brand new Miss France 2024 look very chic, elegant and authentic, enough reasons to conquer the jury that was made up of renowned and successful women from France.

Surprise Triumph

Eve was crowned surprisingly, since she did not appear on the list of favorites of the French media nor on that of television viewers, which for the second consecutive year were more than 7 million, only in France.

The truth is that the young woman is, since Saturday, an important symbol of diversity in her country and throughout Europe.

Eve is 20 years old, she is originally from the small town of Quaedypre, in Dunkerque. During the year of her reign, she plans to "defend the values of strong women." She won the crown of the Nord Pas-de-Calais region, which took her to the Miss France 2024 stage.

In her first interview with Paris Match, Miss France 2024, said that she hopes she is not pigeonholed as "the miss with short hair, because she is not just that" and added that if "she cut her hair it was not because she found it particularly pretty." she just didn't have any kind of emotional attachment to her hair" and concluded by saying that "it wasn't anything unusual for a woman, many French women have short hair."

Will Eve go to any international competition?

It is known that Miss France chooses a young woman to reign at the national level and although the organization is a franchisee of Miss Universe and Miss World, it is not the obligation of the elected queen to participate in any of these events, if she does not wish to do so. So we are all waiting for the decision that Eve will make. Will she be encouraged to go to Miss World or Miss Universe? Only time will give us the answer.
